Churchill Downs -- HANDICAPPING HEROES results from 9/23/17

The Handicappers took on the middle Pick 4 at Churchill Downs (races 6 thru 9)  on the Saturday Night Downs After Dark racing card. Scott, Archie and Paulie tackled the races as Kristina McManigell has moved on to the Churchill Downs Racing Preview show at the track and is in the paddock giving out her picks for the September meet on the live feed broadcast at the track and on Twinspires.com . Another HANDICAPPING HEROES alumni goes on to celebrity success! We're proud of her!  

Here's how the fellas did. They gave you both Pick 3's in the sequence and the Pick 4. They also tossed in three exactas and a trifecta! Let's break it down. 

ARCHIE had 14 runners leave the gate. He had (2) scratches in Race 9. Out of those, five hit the board. Arch had two winners and three seconds. He also had two exactas. His Best Bet (Tequilita) was scratched, his Value Play (Too Much Tip) was also scratched. His Jock of the Sequence (Brian Hernandez, Jr.) failed to get a win in the four races. ARCHIE ENDS THE DAY WITH 16 POINTS. 

SCOTT saw 15 of his picks start. He had a scratch in Race 9 also. Scott had six of his horses return payoffs.  Two winners, three seconds and a third for him. He also had two exactas. He and Arch had the same Best Bet..so a scratch there. His Value Play (Gorse) finished out of the money and his top jock was also Hernandez, Jr. so no wins there. SCOTT COMES IN SECOND ON THE DAY WITH 17 POINTS. 

PAULIE had a very nice sequence. 15 went down the stretch for him...he had a scratch also in Race 9. Seven of his were in the top three. Four winners, two places and a show. Paulie hit two exactas and a trifecta. He also hit both of the Pick 3 sequences and the Pick 4. His Best Bet (Bingo Kitten) won Race 8 in a photo. His Value Play (Silver GTO) was out of the money. His Top Jock of the Sequence (Corey Lanerie) won Race 8. A HUGE DAY FOR THE PAULSTER AS HE WINS GOING AWAY WITH 54 POINTS!

Churchill Downs -- Handicapping Heroes -- Results from 9-16-17

The Handicappers took on the late Pick 4 sequence yesterday at Churchill Downs and had a fair amount of success. They couldn't quite bring it down....thanks to a surprise 11-1 winner in the final leg, but still produced some nice winners. Here's how they did:

PAULIE sent 16 out of the gate and seven of them hit the board. He had two winners, four seconds and a third. Two exactas that paid well. No Pick 3's nor Pick 4's for Paulie. His Best Bet of the Day missed the winners circle, same with his value play and his Top Jock sequence pick Corey Lanerie was excluded as well from any wins. PAULIE finishes with 19 points.

ARCHIE also gave us 16 options and 10 of them were first, second or third. He produced two winners, four seconds and four thirds. Struck out on the Pick 3 and Pick 4's but he nailed two exactas and two trifectas. His Best Bet of the Day turned out not to be so good, but his Value Play (THE TABULATOR) did win. We'll still give him credit because obviously he couldn't control the odds and the horse dropped from morning line 6-1 to 4-1. His Top Jock (Julian Leparoux) missed winning a rider in his only mount of the sequence . ARCHIE ENDS UP with 38 points. 

SCOTT had a nice day. Eight of his 16 selections got paid. Two firsts, four seconds and two thirds. Two exactas and a trifecta in his wheel-well also. No Pick 3 or 4 tallies unfortunately. His Best Bet wasn't, his Value Play didn't but he scored nicely on his top Jock (Brian Hernandez, Jr) who won twice!

Handicapping Heroes -- Results for Kentucky Downs 9/9/17

The Handicappers went after the challenging late Pick 4 at Kentucky Downs on Saturday and took it down. They also hit both Pick 3's in the sequence and had a good overall day.

On a day where the highest odds winner in the sequence was 9/2...the prices weren't "bombs"...but, as we say here...we can pick the winners but we can't get what we are going to get paid. 

Here's the breakdown: 

KRISTINA joined us for her first week with the Handicappers. She had 15 of her picks leave the gate (one scratched) and out of those --  eight hit the board. She had three winners, three seconds and two thirds. She also hit two exactas, a trifecta, a superfecta and the first Pick 3. Unfortunately, her best bet of the day (Mississippi Delta) didn't win, her value play of the sequence (Zulu Alpha) got scratched and her pick for top jock (James Graham) failed to win in the sequence. SHE ENDS UP WITH 31 POINTS IN HER MAIDEN RACE WITH THE HANDICAPPERS. 

SCOTT sent forth 16 runners and he had 10 of his return cashable tickets. He had three winners, three places and four shows. Give Scott two exactas, two trifectas, one superfecta and the early Pick 3. His best bet of the sequence (Muqtaser) ran third, his value play (Scatter Gun) did not hit the board, though and his pick for top jock (Joe Bravo) got shut out of any wins. SCOTT FINISHES THIRD ON THE DAY WITH 36 POINTS. 

ARCHIE provided 16 horses to consider and nine of his got paid. He ended up with three winners, three seconds and three thirds. Archie hit two exactas, two trifectas, a superfecta and also the early Pick 3 of the sequence. His best bet of the day (Miss Temple City) won for him. His value play (Bullards Alley) did not, though. Archie also had (Jose Ortiz) as his top jock and he drew a goose egg. ARCHIE FINISHES SECOND ON THE DAY WITH 45 POINTS

PAULIE prognosticated on 16 runners and 10 of his finished in the money. He had four winners, three places and three shows. He ended up with three exactas, three trifectas and a superfecta. Paulie had both of the Pick 3's in the sequence and also hit the Pick 4. His best bet of the sequence (Miss Temple City) got the win, his value play (Lull) won the eighth race and was a morning line odds of 5-1 before getting bet down to 3-1. His jockey of the sequence (Julian Leparoux) won the final race.  A VERY GOOD DAY FOR YOUR MODERATOR AND PAULIE GOES LAMAR JACKSON ON THE COMPETITION AND WINS WITH 80 POINTS.

Handicapping Heroes Results from Saratoga 9/2/217

The Handicappers had some nice successes on the late Pick 4 sequence and a combination of Scott, Paulie and Archie's pick would have brought it down for you if you combined them. A couple of surprises on the card -- that's not surprising at Saratoga -- but a day where profits were made and a lot of great racing. Let's look at the totals. 

ARCHIE gave us 16 runners to look at and 10 of them were in the money. He had three winners, three places and four shows. He also gathered two exactas, two trifectas, two superfectas and the late Pick 3. His Best Bet of the Day (Gun Runner) won but his Value Play (Mr Haverkamp) did not hit the board. His Jock of the Sequence (Jose Ortiz) failed to ride a winner in the four races. ARCH ENDS UP WITH 50 POINTS. 

SCOTT saw his 16 break from the gate and 11 of his hit the board. He had three winners, four seconds and four thirds. Three exactas, three trifectas and three superfectas for Mr. Gold Room. He also had the early Pick 3. Unfortunately, his Best Bet of the Day (Seperationofpowers) ran third, his Value Play (Grateful) finished second and his Top Jock of the Sequence (Jose Ortiz) did not get to the circle. SCOTT TAKES SECOND WITH 51 POINTS. 

PAULIE put out 16 runners and 10 of them got him paid. He had three winners, four seconds and three thirds. Three exactas, three trifectas and two superfectas for the moderator. He also hit the late Pick 3. His Best Bet of the Day (Gun Runner) ran well to win and his Top Jock of the Sequence (Florent Geroux) was on board him when he did. His Value Play (Grateful) as mentioned above was second in the 12th race. PAULIE TAKES THE DAY WITH 63 POINTS. 

We do what we tell you that we do here. We give you winners and exotics wins. We can't control what they pay...but they come in the money. A conservative combination of the Handicappers picks yesterday would have cost you around $100 yesterday on the Pick 4 but it returned $213.

Handicapping Heroes Selections for Saratoga 9/2/17

The Handicappers had originally planned to study the opening day at Kentucky Down s for today...but due to 6 inches plus of rain in the Franklin, KY area....and the Downs being a turf course...racing was cancelled. Their opening day will now be on Wednesday. 

So, we return to Saratoga. We know there are a few of you who who like us to be bringing you Kentucky racing, and we have plenty of that in store for you in the next couple of months...but Ellis Park's card compared to two Grade 3 and two Grade I contests at the Spa was simply no contest...so we have handicapped the late Pick 4 at Saratoga. There is a nice Pick 5 that starts the race before the Pick 4 and could be a fun challenge for you as well. Here's the Pick 4.

On the Saratoga Pick Five...which starts in Race Eight with a Optional Claiming race...a few possible horses to look at in the eighth: 

CREATE A DREAM won a stakes race in October of last year and hasn't reappeared until today. Her works look OK, J.J. Castellano gets on board again and it is Chad Brown.
