HANDICAPPING HEROES RESULTS FROM 6/25

The Handicapping Heroes stumbled a bit on Saturday, both Archie and Scott having their first losing days since we began the broadcasts and picks.

They did produce some good results but with the chalky results and low payouts...not enough to end up on the plus side of wagering.

SCOTT HARRIS won the points battle...based on (3) points for a winner, (2) for a place (1) for a show (3) for a trifecta and (2) for an exacta. He ended with 28 points...ARCHIE KAREL finished with 24 points.

Scott did get 9 of his 16 picks in the money and gave out three exactas and a trifecta..but on a total of $192 potential wager on $2 across the board on each horse and a $1 exacta and .50 cent trifecta in each of the four races...he would have spent $192 in wagers and just received $129.20 back...a loss of $62.80.

Archie fared a little worse than that. 8 of his 16 selections hit the board but he provided only two exactas and one trifecta. His $192 spent on wagers would have returned $83.30...a loss of $108.70.

Scott jumped out to a 107 to 100 lead in the points battle after four weeks.

A less than profitable day at the track. It happens sometimes...both Handicappers promise to be back strong next week for the final day of the Spring Meet at Churchill next Saturday.

HANDICAPPING HEROES RESULTS FROM 6/18/2016

Our Handicappers had a successful day in predicting the Churchill Downs races they chose yesterday.

SCOTT HARRIS handicapped four races and gave us three winners, a place horse and two show horses in his 17 picks. He also handicapped an exacta winner and a Pick 3 score with his selections. We give him 17 total points on the day, based on the (3) points for a winner (2) for a place, (1) for a show and (2) for an exacta point system we have.

Also note he provided the Pick 3 for races 7,8, and 9. A $40 total wager returned a $145.90 payout for a .50 Pick 3.

If you had put $2 on his selections to win, place and show, did a $1 exacta box on his picks and played a Pick 3 on his choices in races 7,8 and nine...you would have bet a total of $198 and gotten back $296.60. That's almost a $100 total profit and that's not back work at all!

He was also 4 for 4 in the Pick Six with two races to go when I last checked with him last night. How that turned out, we'll find out next time we see him. The Pick Six paid $3622.36 on the 20 cent wager platform.

Somebody get a hose, the Scottster is on fire!

ARCHIE KAREL also studied four races for us on the Churchill card. "The Arch" continued his winning ways...giving us 14 horses and getting two winners, three second place horses, and two show horses! Toss in two exactas and a trifecta and he ends up with 23 total points. Hose down Archie, too...he's burning it up!

Placing $2 across the board on his picks came to a total cost of $78 and got you back $89.40. Playing exactas on his selections came to $30 and returned $73.30. A nice profit on the day of $54.70.

The horse he liked as his bet bet of the day...Auntie Joy...won and paid $8.20, $4.80 and $3.20. That's $16.20 for $6 wagered and your host Paulie did it for $10 across...getting back a nice profit $51.

In the points race...after three weeks...it's close, close, close...with Scott holding a narrow 79-76 lead.

HANDICAPPING HEROES - 6/18/2016

It's night racing at Churchill tonight for Saturday's card...Stephen Foster Night...and our handicappers have been busy scouring the impressive card for winners. We have five races on the Churchill Downs card to present to you.

RACE 2 - Optional Claiming $55,000

Scott Harris liked this race a lot and provided us his selections.

(6) Ivy Bell is his top choice. Ricardo Santana Jr. rides for Steve Asmussen and finished a close second last time out at Churchill. Scott also likes (1) Game Time Decision, (4) Northern Michigan and (2) Laxfield Road.

RACE 6 - FLEUR DE LIS HANDICAP GR II $200,000

Archie Karel looked at this opener for the late Pick 4 and came up with these suggestions.

(1) Untapable is his top choice. The horse is 3 for 3 at Churchill and should be the favorite. Archie also rates (4) Ahh Chocolate having a chance here..two wins and a second at Churchill. He tosses (6) Brooklynsway in as a trifecta round out selection.

RACE 7 - WISE DAN GR 11 $200,000

Both our handicappers tackled this tough test over the turf at a 1 1/16 mile distance. Scott gives us (2) The Pizza Man, (1) Thatcher Street, (8) Pleuven and (4) Flatlined as his top four. Archie counters with (1) Thatcher Street, (2) The Pizza Man (9) Za Approval and (5) Conquest Typhoon as the superfecta selections.

RACE 8 - STEPHEN FOSTER HANDICAP. GR I $500,000

Archie and Scott looked at the feature race tonight and came up with these runners. Scott gives us (3) Effinex (7) Eagle (6) Are You Kidding Me and (2) Bradester. Archie nearly the same with (3) Effinex, (7) Eagle, (2) Bradester and (4) Majestic Harbor.

RACE 9 - REGRET. GR III $100,000

A tough one for the Fillies and Mares on the turf at 1 1/8 miles. Scott offers (1) Wessex as his top pick, followed by (1) Gone Away, (4) Family Meeting, (11) Auntie Joy and (8) Dothraki Queen. Archie sees it a bit differently, pointing to (11) Auntie Joy to hit the wire first, followed by (5) Noble Beauty, (6) Try Your Luck and (8) Dothraki Queen.

Good luck to our handicappers and you tonight in what looks to be a fantastic night of racing under the stars and lights on Central Avenue!

HANDICAPPING HEROES RESULTS FROM 6/11/16 and AUDIO FOR SHOW

A great day for the Handicapping Heroes and the picks they gave.

In case you missed the show, here is the link to listen to the rebroadcast.

https://soundcloud.com/chradio/handicapping-heroes

SCOTT HARRIS had a profitable day. He got 39 points out of a possible 55. The scoring system awards (3) points for a winner (2) for place (1) for show (3) for a trifecta and (2) for an exacta. Scott handicapped five races and provided 21 horses. Of those, 10 hit the board. He had three exactas and two trifectas as well. If you had put $2 across the board on each of his 21 horses, you would have spent $126 and gotten back $161. If you had played a $1 exacta and $1 trifecta on his picks, you would have spent $224 and gotten back $461.40.

That's a nice day...with a total profit of $272.

ARCHIE KAREL did also quite well. He got 22 points out of a possible 44. Archie handicapped four races and provided 17 horses. Of those, 10 hit the board. He had two exactas as well. If you had put $2 across the board on each of his 17 horses, you would have spent $102 and gotten back $130. If you had played a $1 exacta and $1 trifecta on his picks, you would have spent $144 and gotten back $153.

A total profit of $37 on the day.

In addition, Paulie teamed up with Archie and Scott and played the late Pick 4 at Belmont. They spent $120 on the ticket and got back $898.50. Scott and Paulie pick in the eight, Celestine, won at 8-1 odds. The ninth race saw Frosted take the win and we all three liked him at 2-1 odds. In the tenth, favorite Flintshire crossed the wire first and the three of us liked him. In the Belmont Stakes, it was Creator providing the upset at 16-1 odds...a horse that all three of us agreed on.

On a personal note, my picks did well also. I hit the pick 3 for races 7-9 at Belmont and received $672 for my $30 investment. I also played the 10th and 11th races...picking the top two finishers in each and taking a total profit of $154 in those two races.

Follow Handicapping Heroes. We make you money...and there is nothing wrong with that.

HANDICAPPING HEROES -- Belmont Stakes

The 148th Belmont Stakes runs today in New York...the final jewel in the Triple Crown. Our HANDICAPPING HEROES have looked at the races there...as well as the feature race at Churchill Downs today and have made some selections on races they like at both tracks.

You can hear the show at 11 a.m. this morning on WCHQ 100.9 FM and on the Internet at www.crescenthillradio.com
The Cardinal Couple Radio Hour is off today...scheduling conflicts with the Mighty Kindness Festival.

SCOTT HARRIS has handicapped these races:

BELMONT THIRD RACE. GRADE II ACORN

Scott likes (5) Cathryn Sophia who returns to the track after winning the Kentucky Oaks. He'll also use (6) Go Maggie Go..winner of the Black Eyed Susan at Pimlico (4) Carina Mia who ran well in the Eight Belles at Churchill Downs  and (2) Off The Tracks winner of three out of four lifetime races

BELMONT SEVENTH RACE. GRADE II WOODY STEPHENS

(4) Justin Squared gets the nod from Scott, undefeated in three races , including the Chick Lang at Pimlico. His second choice is (7) Counterforce who was second in the Chick Lang. (11) Mrazek has finished no worse than second in six west coast races and (1) Sharp Azteca  has won three in a row, including the Pat Day Mile at Churchill

BELMONT EIGHTH RACE. GRADE I JUST A GAME

(7) MRS McDOUGAL comes in after a sharp closing score at Aqueduct and is Scott's top choice. (2) Recepta will be close with her closing style and could end up on top. (8) Celestine should set the early pace and they'll have to catch her. (1) Strike Charmer closed well to win the Grade II BeauGay last time out.

BELMONT ELEVENTH RACE. GRADE I BELMONT STAKES

Scott gives us five horses to consider here. His top pick is (4) Suddenbreakingnews who closed well to get fifth in the Kentucky Derby. (11) Exaggerator did nothing wrong in the Preakness and will likely be the odds on favorite.  (2) Destin should improve after his disappointing Derby run. (13) Creator was another disappointment in the Derby but comes back and should like this distance. (3) Cherry Wine ran second in the Preakness and was clsoing well at the end.

CHURCHILL ELEVENTH. GRADE III MINT JULEP HANDICAP

Scott sees (5) Mizz Money (4) Cash Control and (6) Zipessa as the top three...but keep an eye on (2) Flying Tipat.

Archie Karel's picks round out our busy day of horse racing. Archie brings us his picks in three Belmont races and the feature at Churchill.

CHURCHILL DOWNS RACE 11 - GRADE III MINT JULEP HCP.

(4) Cash Control is one of the two here that Archie likes a lot. He also gives us (5) Mizz Money. Going deeper, (6) Zipessa and (2) Flying Tipat are getting a look from the Arch

BELMONT RACE 9 - THE METROPOLITAN

(8) Ami's Flatter is Archie's top pick in this $1,250,000 Grade I affair. It could be a nice price on this one and Martin Garcia. He sees, in no particular order, (4) Noble Bird, (5) Frosted, (6) Upstart and (7) Stanford filling out the other spots.

BELMONT RACE 10 - THE MANHATTAN

Archie looks for another price with (2) Slumber pulling the upset. (10) Flintshire will draw the bettors money as a favorite and should run well today. He's also working (5) Big Blue Kitten, (6) Ironicus and (11) Divisidero into his exotics and multiple race wagers.

BELMONT RACE 11 -- THE BELMONT STAKES

(11) Exaggerator makes it two in a row in Archie's thought process. He expects (12) Brody's Cause to improve off the Derby effort. (13) Creator is another he sees firing off the layoff and (2) Destin rounds out his picks.

Good luck today! We'll be back tomorrow with the wrap-up.

HANDICAPPING HEROES -- Update from Saturday 6/4/16 Selections

HANDICAPPERS DO WELL ON INAUGURAL BROADCAST

We kicked off the inaugural, stand alone broadcast of HANDICAPPING HEROES in fine fashion yesterday. Prognosticators Scott Harris and Archie Karel joined me in selecting races...we were hoping to get Spanky and Dave Bicker from the I'll Have Another gang on the show as well...but a phone malfunction (Spanky) and misplaced and eventually thrown away programs (Bicker) put them out of the show. We hope they'll be back next week.

How'd the Heroes do? Here are Archie's results:

Race 8:  Archie gave us the winner Honorable Duty and place horse Flash Trading.

Race 9:  Archie got a second place with Rivers Run Deep.

Race 10: Archie provided the winner Alsvid, place horse Limousine Liberal and show with Union Jackson !

Race 11. Archie was again successful with the winner Full Scope, place horse My Man Greyson and show with Between Satin Sheets

We give him a total score of 31 points based on the following scoring system. (3) for a winner, (2) for a place (1) for a show, (3) for a trifecta and (2) for an exacta. If you had placed a $2 wager on each horse he selected across the board you would have spent $90 and got back $86.10. His exacta and trifecta success, based on a $1 bet on each, returned $158.60 for $144 wagered. His total profit would have been $10.50

Based on fifteen selections and twelve possible chances to cash a ticket...nine of Archie's hit the board. That's 80% on the available payoffs and 60% on total picks.

            *            *            *            *

Scott provided us with four races he liked also.

Race 3: Scott gave us the winner in Indygobo and third place finisher with Right To Vote out of his four selections

Race 7: With his three selections, Scott covered the board with winner Daring Prospect, place Annathela and show Burma Road!

Race 8: Scott stayed on fire as two of his three picks hit the board in winner Honorable Duty and runner up Flash Trading

Race 10: Scott provided three total picks here (one was scratched) and his two remaining selections ran second in Limousine Liberal and third with Union Jackson.

Scott finished with a total score of 23. What's most impressive is that out of the 12 horses he offered...10 hit the board for payoffs. That's a rocking 83% for total payoffs and selection success!

$2 across the board on each of his picks would have cost you $72 and returned $75.10. Playing $1 exacta and $1 trifectas on his selections added up to $74 and paid out $87.60. His total profit ended up $16.70.

In case you missed the broadcast, the link for the rebroadcast is below:

Don't miss next Saturday's show...we'll have three stakes races from Belmont...including the Belmont Stakes and the feature race of the day from Churchill Downs. Our broadcast will air at 11 a.m...since The Cardinal Couple Radio Hour will be off that week.
