HANDICAPPING HEROES -- SATURDAY BREEDERS CUP RESULTS AT DEL MAR 11/4/17

The Handicappers took on the nine race Breeders Cup on Saturday and had some ups and downs at the Del Mar Race Course. It was a wacky day of racing...with some huge upsets, favorites getting dusted and humongous payouts on multi-race wagers and trifectas. It also gave Gun Runner the chance to prove he is the best horse of 2017 and he did it convincingly....going wire to wire in the Classic! If you're a "numbers" player...the #5 horse won four of the nine races. The favorites fared badly in the nine-race sequence...the only one to win was World Approval in the ninth.

Here's how the Handicappers did:

ARCHIE discussed 36 horses in the nine race sequence. Of those, ten hit the board. He had two winners, two places and six shows. He had an exacta and trifecta in the sequence. ARCHIE FINISHES WITH 21 POINTS.

SCOTT also gave us 36 chances. 13 of those made the payout list. Three firsts, four seconds and six thirds. He had the final race exacta and trifecta. SCOTT ENDS UP IN SECOND PLACE ON THE DAY WITH 27 POINTS.

PAULIE put 36 runners out as possibles. He had 13 of those finish in the money. Paulie had four winners, three seconds and six thirds. He also had the Classic exacta and trifecta. PAULIE WINS THE DAY WITH 29 POINTS.

AN INTERESTING angle is to put $2 to win on each of the horses you like. In this case, it would have cost you $72 to play each Handicappers pick in the nine races. (9x4x2) . For Paulie, it would have returned $62.60. I would have taken just a $10 loss on the day --compared to how it actually fared for me.
