HANDICAPPING HEROES -- CHURCHILL DOWNS -- RESULTS FROM 11/25/17

The Handicappers tackled the late Pick 4 at Churchill Downs and had some successes in picking winners. Although they did not take down the prize, they gave you the early Pick 3 in Races 9-11 and some exactas. Here's how the final Handicapping Heroes of the year contest went:

PAULIE had all sixteen of his break from the gate. He had two winners, a second and two thirds. He also had an exacta. He fell short on all three of the bonus items...the Best Bet, Value Play and Top Jock of the sequence. PAULIE earned 12 points on the day.

SCOTT also offered 16 runners that covered ground. He produced a winner, three seconds and a third. Give Scott the 10th. race exacta as well. Like Paulie, his Best Bet, Value Play and Top Jock of the Sequence were non-winners. SCOTT ties Paulie with 12 points.

ARCHIE gave us 16 selections and had three winners, two seconds and two thirds. He hit two exactas and the early Pick 3. His Best Bet, Value Play and Top Jock of the Sequence ran a bit short. ARCHIE takes the day with 22 points.

It was a good day all-around for Archie. A horse that he is part-owner of, along with our buddy, Dr. Tom and others...won the 4th race!  Violent Storm unleashed a power stretch drive down the center of the turf to win at the wire. Ridden by Florent Geroux and traained by Brendan Walsh, he went off at 7-1 and paid $16 to win.

FUNNY DUCK tucked in to save ground, took closer order on the second turn, angled out and loomed 5w, kicked on well but was unable to resist the winner. HONEY DONT contended along the inside, shifted out entering the stretch, but flattened between horses. RARE FORM stalked the pace three deep, launched a bold bid entering the stretch, forged command nearing the furlong marker, but weakened during the drive and gave way. COME ON DOVER was allowed to settle, ranged up five wide tomake his bid, but faltered entering the stretch and faded. NEVERQUITDREAMINGpressed the pace, gained command with three furlongs to run, disputed the issue to the final furlong and tired. SUPER FACTOR set the pace along the inside, was headed after six furlong and gave way. CALLMECASH was allowed to settle fivewide but failed to make headway. SKYDERE passed only the tiring ones. We recently opened up the site to comments. You know the rules...keep it clean, no bots or spam and don't trash anyone. It's provisional...if it gets stupid, I'll shut down the comments again.
