KEENELAND -- HANDICAPPING HEROES -- Results from 10/7/17
The Handicappers took on the $350,000 guaranteed Pick 4 at Keeneland yesterday (Races 6 thru 9) and, although they did not take it down, they still came up with a few winners for you in what was a very tough sequence to handicap. Here's the breakdown:
PAULIE had 15 runners go to the gate (all three Handicappers had a scratch in the 6th race with IVY BELL). Out of those runners, he had five hit the board. He had two wins, two places and a show. His best bet (Miss Temple City) came up short, his value play (Bourbon Resolution) must have had a hangover and his top jock of the sequence (Julian Leparoux) did not get a win in the four races. Paulie ends up with 11 points.
ARCHIE sent forth 15 of his picks and six of them got you paid. He had three winners, one second and two thirds. He gave you the first Pick 3 in the sequence also. His best bet (Divisdero) finished out of the money, his value play (Ten City) pulled up and was vanned off and his top jock of the sequence (Julian Leparoux) got shut out of the winner's circle. Archie takes second place on the day with 16 points.
SCOTT saw 15 of his selections break from the gate. He had six of them mentioned in the payout section. Give him two wins, two seconds and two thirds. His best bet of the day (Finley'sluckycharm) did win the sixth race. His value play (Ten City) never made it to town and his top jock of the sequence (Javier Castellano) failed to get a win. Scott does win the day with 22 points.
Sometimes, long shots can upset the apple cart. Although only Archie had ZIPESSA in Race 7, we all discussed his chances and Joe Bravo got him home. None of figured on the European invader SUEDOIS in Race 9, but the first-time starter in the U.S. got Lasix for the first time and had won a mile race in Ireland on the turf before shipping over. So it goes...but if you followed the handicappers pick yesterday, you did hit a Pick 3 that paid almost $90 and had a trio of winners.
