CHURCHILL STARTS FRIDAY!
The September meet of Churchill Downs starts Friday! We are glad to be back handicapping races at the Downs and discussing the track!
TEN THINGS WE'LL KEEP AN EYE ON
1) Jockeying for the lead. A great group of riders, trainers and owners descend upon the Downs. Lanerie, Leparoux, Hernandez, Jr., Geroux...the names will be there. Who will win the September meet?
2) Downs After Dark. Always a special night at Churchill...we can't wait to see what promotions the Downs has in store.
3) A Super Saturday on the 17th! Three Grade III races in the Iroquois, Pocahontas and Locust Grove...plus the Open Mind...combine that with Louisville Football in the same day! Free General Admission and fun!
4) Our Handicapping Heroes battle. Scott has an impressive lead over Archie as we return to the Downs...can he keep it up? Listen to the show Saturdays at noon on WCHQ 100.9 FM and on the internet at crescenthillradio.com Download the WCHQ app also!
5) Beat Joe! Track handicapper Joe Kristufek had a 29% win slate during the Spring meet. We think our guys can do better than that.
6) Cheap beer Thursdays. We'd like to see this promotion include hot dogs again. Nothing better than a beer and a dog while picking your winners. Gates open at 4 p.m. $1 from 5-8 p.m. for a cold brew.
7) Borel back! One of the best ever to ride the rails at Churchill...Calvin Borel...is back riding again. Will the Churchill magic continue?
8) FAMILY FUN DAYS! Sundays are special at CD....with stick horse races, face-painting, pony rides, inflatables and a petting zoo. Bring Grandma and the kids!
9) FULL FIELDS? We hope the days of 5-6 horses per race are gone. More horses = bigger payouts...(and we all want to make a little money, honey!)
10) CHILI-FEST. The Downs used to have a great Chili cook-off festival. We'd like to see that return...maybe in September. I'd even volunteer to be a judge...

We recently opened up the site to comments. You know the rules...keep it clean, no bots or spam and don't trash anyone. It's provisional...if it gets stupid, I'll shut down the comments again.
